There's a short piece in the New Yorker about the number of plays that are out and about now that are adaptation of books. Interesting read, and I thought was most notable was that while audiences seem to grumble when a film isn't true to the book (take Harry Potter, for an example) people seem more inclined to embrace the theatrical adaptation that takes the story into another realm.
