Have You Read? October Readings a Week from Today

Interim Writers' "Have You Read? October" staged readings are a week from today. An excerpt of my new play, Turtles, will be read, and I couldn't be more excited. I'll see a rehearsal tonight, and these are the moments playwrights live for, seeing their words come alive. That is the biggest difference between playwrights and other fiction writers. Our words actually come alive in people's mouths and through their bodies. We write our words for that reason. And I've been noticed for my work before--someone might have commented on something I wrote maybe in a letter or an email or even face to face, but trust me, there is nothing like the experience of seeing it live. You're not seeing just words on a page or on a computer screen. You're not even watching someone read your words; even then you can't feel what they're feeliYou're seeing your words as if, through some weird acid trip or sleight of hand by Disney that you're words actually sit up off the page, stretch, dust themselves off, then start wreaking havoc in the real world like some kind of anarchistic gnome.

Anyway, I'm getting off-point, which isn't unusual for me.
